Body sections Trace off the selected close fitting jacket or dress block.

Tighten the front neckline to prevent sag.

On the bodice front draw a line from neck to bust point.

Cut out the dart, cut up the line, overlap approx. 1cm (depending on the depth of neck).

Transfer bust dart to the centre shoulder.

Draw a vertical line from the neck point.

Draw in front neckline. Add buttonstand.

Draw a seam line from the front shoulder dart.

Shape in the back seam 1.5cm at the back waist; square down to the hem line.

Draw curved panel lines and a curved side seam.

Distribute 14cm of darting, taking more from the front than the back bodice in shaped panel lines as shown.

Draw a curved seam line below the waistline from the back panel to the dart panel.

Number all the lower panels created.

Top body sections Trace off top body panels.

Main front and back panel sections Trace off the front.

Trace off the front and back panel; add the lower panels, cutting and spreading the hemline.

Sleeves image (1) Cut from the close fitting jacket block, it has a two-piece sleeve.

Sleeves image (2) Cut from the close fitting dress block, it has a one-piece short sleeve.
